Last check with wheat prices/locations:
Costco: Lehi Roller Mills Red Wheat $27.00 per 7 gallon bucket (42 lbs.)
Lehi Roller Mills: Wheat orders delayed 3 weeks
Walton Feed: $27.65 for Red Wheat, $29.60 for White. Wheat orders delayed up to 12 weeks
Other locations sell wheat (such as Honeyville Grains and Bosch) but they only sell bagged in which case you must bucket it yourself. Un-bucketed grain will spoil or develop weevils much faster.
The delays and total lack of white wheat are what made us look elsewhere. Details on uses of red wheat vs. white wheat to be posted later

Fannnie May and Freddie Mac nationalized
http://money.cnn.com/2008/09/07/news/companies/fannie_freddie/?postversion=2008090716
I'll let the article speak for itself but in short
1) Don't Panic
2) Watch your 401k and investments tomorrow and throughout the week. Read your terms and conditions because many of them will sell at the closing price the NEXT DAY when you enact a trade. In that case it is better to hold
3) Money markets are typically stable places that you can usually move money into
4) This is typically a good time to sell short.
If you had fannie/freddie stock, both the common stock and the preferred stock has been eliminated (it's now just paper).
Please review your finances with care if you can, and do things with wisdom and order.

Flier posted to the water containers
Some of you expressed interest in having the flier posted to the water containers.
Posted in its entirety below:
Using Water Storage
Each person needs minimum 1 gallon of water per day. Additional water may be wanted for washing & sanitary purposes
14 gallons = two week supply for one person
NO BLEACH: Replace water every year
BLEACH: Use bleach as a disinfectant and store for 5 years. Make sure it stands at least 30 minutes before use. Use only plain bleach.
If the water is clear: 8 drops of bleach per gallon
½ teaspoon of bleach per 5 gallons
5 teaspoons of bleach per 50 gallons
If the water is cloudy: 16 drops of bleach per gallon
1 teaspoon of bleach per 5 gallons
10 teaspoons of bleach per 50 gallons
BOILING: DO NOT HEAT THESE CONTAINERS. If you choose to boil water, use another container and boil 5-10 minutes.
TO SANITIZE OR DISINFECT
To sanitize containers and utensils, mix 1 tablespoon Regular Clorox Bleach with one gallon of water. Wash items with soapy water. Rinse. Soak in disinfecting solution for 2 minutes. Drain and air dry.
Clean water is of utmost importance in a crisis. It prevents and minimizes life-threatening illness in times of trouble.

Secretary Paulson and Jim Cramer from "The Street"
Secretary Paulson says "Many months" of trouble ahead (He's the head of the Treasure for the United States of America), but says banking system is sound
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25769121/
Jim Cramer (the eternal optimist) says to "Sell everything, come back later"
http://moneynews.com/streettalk/cramer_sell_stocks_now/2008/07/09/111259.html
These in and of themselves do not mean a disaster, but I thought people who have large 401k's or lots of financial investments would be interested in the news.

19 financial instituions one cannot Short sell
The government has basically admitted that these institutions are going to lose money by banning "naked short selling" on them. Given they are all financial institutions, I thought ward members might be interested in the list:

Regular short sellers (not naked short selling) are betting $1 trillion on stocks going down
